A truly golden moment arrived for India through Army marksman Ravinder Singh. The 29-year-old Naik Subedar from Bishnah, Jammu & Kashmir, fired his way to a career-best gold medal in the men’s 50m free pistol event.

He showcased exceptional consistency, accumulating a superb total of 569 points. His rounds of 93, 98, 94, 95, 93, and 96 kept him comfortably ahead of his competitors.

Ravinder’s dominant display put him well clear of South Korea’s Kim Cheongyong (556) and AIN’s Anton Aristarkhov (556), who both tied for second place.

Team Silver in the 50m Free Pistol

Beyond his individual triumph, Ravinder Singh also played a crucial role in securing a team silver medal for India.

Alongside teammates Kamaljeet (540) and Yogesh Kumar (537), the Indian trio achieved a combined total of 1646 points. They narrowly missed the gold, finishing just two points behind South Korea’s winning score of 1648.

Elavenil Valarivan’s Bronze in Women’s 10m Air Rifle

A Close Fight for Gold

Two-time Olympian Elavenil Valarivan delivered a thrilling bronze medal in the women’s 10m air rifle event. The 26-year-old shooter displayed incredible skill, even taking the lead mid-way through the intense final.

However, a crucial 10.0 on her 19th shot saw her slip to third place. A subsequent 9.9 on her 22nd shot further impacted her momentum.

She ultimately secured the bronze with a final score of 232.0. Elavenil finished behind South Korea’s Ban Hyojin (255.0) and China’s Wang Zifei (254.0), who claimed gold and silver respectively.

Team Bronze for Indian Women’s Air Rifle Squad

The Indian women’s team also celebrated a bronze medal in the 10m air rifle category. Comprising Elavenil Valarivan, Meghana Sajjanar, and Shreya Agrawal, the team achieved a combined qualification score of 1893.3.

They proudly stood on the podium behind China (1901.7) and South Korea (1899.9). Individually, Elavenil’s strong qualification score of 633.4 placed her fifth, while Meghana finished 17th and Shreya 33rd.
